From the assignment: “The goal of this project is to enhance your understanding of the relationships between animal form and function and the various tradeoffs that organisms experience as a result. In doing so, this project will also serve as a means to enhance your skill at developing, rationalizing and testing biological hypotheses, and expressing these ideas effectively in written form.”

This exercise is appropriate for lower division general biology, ecology, diversity, or evolution courses.
