Primate Morphology Query

Nov 04, 2009 - 21:01 - Tanya Dewey

A set of queries designed by Phil Myers and ADW staff to explore several aspects of primate morphology using image queries. These are appropriate for upper level courses in evolution, primate evolution, and mammalogy.

The exercise includes general search tips on how to explore:

1) Changes in cranial bone structure associated with binocular vision and association of binocular vision with other aspects of life history.

2) Evolutionary and taxonomic changes in the placement of the foramen magnum and what life history aspects those changes are associated with.

3) How diet influences cranial and dental morphology.

4) How sociality influences other aspects of life history, such as reproductive biology and behavior and diet.
